Are you staying somewhere in the Netherlands and do you need to go to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport? In that case it is good to know what your opportunities are.
By car
Of course you can go by car to the airport. For most people this is the most convenient and familiar way. However, you should keep in mind that parking can be expensive (see our page Parking Schiphol).
Schiphol is centrally located for most big cities in the Netherlands. A huge highway, the A4, runs underneath the airport, which makes getting there even more convenient. It is advisable to use Google Maps to plan your trip to the airport.
By public transport
Train
Schiphol train station is located right under the airport. An escalator brings you right in the central hall of Schiphol. So you don’t need to take another transfer or bus. All departure and arrival halls are accessible by foot from the central hall
Almost every 10 to 15 minutes, a train leaves from Amsterdam Central Station to Schiphol. This trips will take around 15 minutes. From many other Dutch cities there is a direct train connection as well.
Even at night trains will be running to and from Schiphol. Once an hour a train runs between Utrecht CS – Amsterdam CS – Schiphol – Leiden CS – Den Haag CS – Delft and Rotterdam CS, and back. However, this trip will take longer than during daytime. This is especially so if you leave from Rotterdam, because this train detours compared to the daytime schedule.

Bus
Especially if you are leaving from somewhere close to Schiphol, taking a bus can be a good option. These buses stop right in front of Schiphol Plaza, so you are close to all the arrival and departure halls.
For schedules it is best to check to website www.9292.nl, for all Dutch public transport companies. Or the specific websites of local bus companies such as www.connexxion.nl, www.gvb.nl of www.arriva.nl.
